Health and Safety Policy
Statement of Intent
Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, C J Lang and Son Limited, as employers, will ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of all its employees, customers, contractors and visitors as may be affected by the company’s activities. The main objective of the Policy is to reduce and minimise the risk of accidents and ill health arising from the company’s work activities.
To ensure this, it is the policy of the company:-
a) To provide and maintain equipment and systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to health.
b) To ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety and absence of risk to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transportation of articles and substances.
c) To provide such information, instruction, training and adequate supervision, as is necessary, to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety andwelfare of staff.
d) To ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, as regards any place under the employee’s control the provision of a safe place of work, with safe access and exit from it.
e) To provide and maintain a healthy working environment which is safe and without risks to health, and adequate in regards facilities and arrangements for their welfare at work.
It is fundamental to this Policy that safety shall be managed at all Employment levels throughout the Company and it should be noted that the Act places, upon all employees, the duty to take reasonable care for the Health and Safety at Work of themselves, as well as the safety of others, who may be affected by their acts or omissions, and to co-operate with their employer, so far as is necessary, to enable any duty or requirement imposed on the employer by any relevant statutory provisions to be performed or complied with. They must
not interfere with or misuse anything that is provided in the interest of Health Safety and Welfare.
The allocation of duties, with regard to Health, Safety and the Environment, and the particular arrangements laid down by the Company to implement the Policy will be done in consultation with employees.
This Policy and its associated Arrangements will be kept up-to-date and to ensure this, the Policy and the way in which it has operated will be kept under review to keep abreast of changing legislation and Company requirements and any changes will be brought to the attention of all employees and all others who may require knowledge of its contents.
