INAUGURAL NETHY EXPLORER HAILED GREAT SUCCESS

The inaugural Nethy Explorer was hailed a great success by organisers when runners from across the North of Scotland took part in the 12k Race, on the 17th of July

Explore Abernethy and Cairngorm Runners jogScotland teamed up to host the event to raise awareness and funds for Explore Abernethy, a community-led project that manages and maintains an extensive path network, runs a visitor centre and ranger service.

The multi–terrain run took competitors on a variety of trails and roads through the Abernethy Forest and alongside the picturesque Loch Garten.

Melanie Clouston, race organiser and ranger at Explore Abernethy, said: “ We had fantastic support from a host of local businesses, including SPAR who sponsored the event, and worked closely with the RSPB and Scottish Natural Heritage to ensure the race was a success. We would also like to thank the Nethy Bridge Tourist Association, Nethy Bridge Highland Games Committee, Nethy Bridge locals, the marshalls, the local WRI, and all the helpers who made sure the event was fun and went without a hitch.”

First overall male went to Kyle Greig from Forres Harriers (pictured) who completed the course in 43 minutes and 35 seconds and first overall female went to Eilidh Raistrick from local club Highland Hill Runners with a time of 50 minutes and nine seconds.
