KINGSMILL PRESENTS SPAR LADYBANK WITH £2,000 GRANT FOR COMMUNITY GARDEN

SPAR Ladybank has been awarded a cheque from Kingsmill as part of their campaign to help retailers engage with their local communities. Store manager, Chrissie McLaren, entered the competition to raise funds for a new community garden in support of Ladybank’s local development trust, and won the top sum of £2,000.

From over 100 entries, the judges were most impressed with Chrissie’s proposal to fund a poly tunnel in the village’s new gardens, with the view to including a sensory garden and raised beds to appeal to all ages and abilities. This also adhered to Kingsmill’s criteria for engaging the whole community with the winning project.

Area Manager, Jill McEwan, said “We are absolutely delighted to be selected as the winner of the Kingsmill Community Grant. We are proud to have been involved in the Ladybank community for a number of years now and have donated to the local Trust since its inception in 2008. Everyone at the store is thrilled at winning and I’m sure the local community will be just as delighted and looking forward to using the new community garden.”
