CJ Lang and Son Ltd recently held an awards ceremony for the hard working graduates of their Management Advancement Programme (MAP). In total, 18 CJ Lang staff from all over Scotland completed the course, with fourteen in attendance on the day to collect their certificates.

MAP is an in-house training Programme developed by C J Lang and Son Limited and aimed at new Managers or Supervisors wishing to progress to a Management role and take on more responsibility.

Candidates completed three parts to the Programme. The first part covered in store management skills and was delivered by workbook method with support from Training Officers and Managers.

The second part included legal compliance and involved three mandatory workshops covering Licensing, Health and Safety and Food Hygiene.

MAP students also undertook a classroom academic section including four management workshops and completed four written assignments. C J Lang is an approved centre for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and these workshops incorporated the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management ‘units’ - enabling all candidates to not only gain their MAP ‘Certificate of Completion’, but also an ILM qualification.

John Connolly, HR Controller, said “MAP is unique in its learning opportunity. It delivers store management operational competencies, legal compliance and specific leadership and management skills. It prepares candidates for a future in management whilst enabling CJ Lang’s talent pipeline. Well done to them all!”
