All creatures great and small joined the celebrations, marking the completion of a multimillion pound investment of an overhaul of the recreational area at RAF Lossiemouth last Friday.

Nick Martin from all creatures’ great and small has an exotic animal rescue centre based in Inverness and he brought along some of his slithery chums to entertain the crowds, who had descended to see the new facilities.

The new facilities, boast new accommodation, bars, a restaurant, a coffee shop, a barber shop, a tailors and a state of the art SPAR store.

At the family launch evening, there was certainly plenty to keep everyone entertained! Children and ‘grown up’s’ enjoyed donkey rides, a bouncy castle and a climbing wall to name but a few and to conclude the celebrations, were demonstrations of a survival, fly past.

The event was a huge success and brings to an end the lengthy commissioning of the facilities at RAF Lossiemouth; a clear indication of the Ministry of Defence’s, commitment to the area.
