NORTH VERSUS SOUTH IN SPAR SCOTTISH GUILD CRICKET TOURNAMENT

North met South in a battle of the wickets on Sunday 18th August at Freuchie Cricket Club in Fife.

The annual SPAR Scottish Guild Cricket Tournament brought SPAR retailers together from across Scotland for a friendly match. The rival teams were led by Gordon Landsburgh, of SPAR Wormit and Scottish Guild Vice Chairman representing the North, and Saleem Sadiq, SPAR Renfrew and Scottish Guild Member, batting for the South.

With the sun shining bright over Freuchie, Gordon Landsburgh’s North team proved to be triumphant over the South, winning by a landslide margin.

Special thanks go to Michael Manghra and Nick Jones, who travelled up from SPAR Central Office to lend a hand to Gordon’s North team. Also a special thanks to all the friends and family who came along to support the two teams, creating lots of atmosphere and making the day a great success.

Bill Mair, SPAR Sales Director, said of the tournament “This was a great event with all the participants and players giving their all and having great fun at the same time. It was great to see retailers, family and friends all mixing together and enjoying themselves. We have already booked Freuchie Cricket Club for next year and intend to make it a bigger and even better event”
