SPAR Kirriemuir, owned and operated by CJ Lang and Son Limited has recently donated a generous £500 to Kirrie Connection charity.

The money was raised through the sale of single use carrier bags, which since October 2014 cost customers 5p per bag.

Kirrie Connection is a new community hub that will be used as a means to share information and give advice regarding groups and services in the area. The building is to become dementia friendly in design and be a place where people living with dementia and their carers can come and use with other groups and services in the area.

The Kirriemuir and Dean Area Partnership run the hub with funding and assistance from The Life Changes Trust.

Graham Galloway from Kirrie Connection, said: “A huge thank you to the local SPAR for thinking about our charity. We rely on the support of the community and it is great to see local businesses helping charities”.

Roger Archibald, Store Manager for SPAR Scotland, said: “Kirrie Connection plays an integral part in the care of dementia sufferers in the area and we were very proud to be able to donate to such an important and local charity”
