Residents in Meigle were treated to some Christmas cheer, courtesy of their local SPAR & terrific support from Doris Scott & her merry team, who arranged for a Christmas tree to be erected in the village square.

Crowds gathered for the official lights switch on, which took place on Saturday 7th December, with carol singers and a visit from Santa Claus himself. The store provided hot drinks, shortbread and mince pies, along with Santa hats, head boppers and sweets for the kids.

Angie Stewart, Store Manager, said, “This is the first year we have supported the event having taken over the store in May. I was very impressed by the turnout, community spirit & lovely singing. The kids had a great time & we are looking forward to supporting in the future.”

The money for the event was raised through the sale of single use carrier bags, which costs SPAR customers 2p and is re-invested into the local community.
