SPAR SCOTLAND AND TOTAL PRODUCE PREPARE SCHOOL FOR THEIR FARMERS MARKET

Date Published:

Pupils at Newport Primary School received a fun and informative talk on fresh produce, arranged by SPAR Scotland and Total Produce, in preparation for their school’s Farmers market. The store in Newport arranged for Ernie Miller of Total Produce to visit the school after being approached by pupils requesting donations towards their Farmers market.

Planned and managed by pupils at the primary school, the Farmers Market is being held at the school on 27 March 2013 with 200-300 people expected to attend. All money raised will be donated to a nominated charity.
The Newport SPAR store provided 80 packs of fruit bags to be sold at the market.

Ernie captured the attention of the pupils by bringing along a display of traditional and unusual products, a discussion on where different fruit and vegetables are grown, giving them an insight into locally grown produce, and a test of their knowledge with a fun quiz. The afternoon closed with an interesting question and answer session from the young minds!
