CJ Lang and Son Limited, owners and operators of SPAR Scotland donated a generous cheque for £2,000 to Cornerstone charity.

The money was raised through the sale of single use carrier bags, which costs customers 5p per bag, and was collected and donated to a local charity nominated by the 15 Stores in the Aberdeen area.

Cornerstone is one of Scotland's largest charities and a leading provider of services for people with disabilities and other support needs. The charity operates with a person centered approach and identifies goals for everyone they support based on four key areas – increased social inclusion, improved health, improved independence and improved wellbeing.

Lisa Duthie, Director of Corporate Relations and Fundraising at Cornerstone, said: “Without the support of local business and individual supporters we would not be able to make such a difference to lives of the people we support and we are extremely grateful to SPAR for this generous donation. All money raised will be used to support Cornerstone’s work to transform the lives of people with disabilities and other support needs across the North-east”.

Bill Christie, Area Manager for SPAR Scotland, said: “Staff in SPAR stores are delighted that the money raised from our carrier bag sales can be put to such good use with local charities”.
