SPAR Banff, owned and operated by CJ Lang and Son Limited has recently donated a generous £400 to Home-Start charity.

The money was raised through the sale of single use carrier bags, which since October 2014 cost customers 5p per bag.

Home-Start is a nationwide registered charity which supports families who have at least one child under the age of five years. Every family is special and Home-Start responds to each family’s needs through a combination of home visiting support, group work and social events.

Charity recruits and trains volunteers, who are usually parents themselves, to visit families with young children to offer informal, friendly, non-judgemental and confidential support to help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope.

Home-Start’s unique offer of friendship to families is recognised as an effective means of family support.

Lorna Yuill from Home-Start, said: “We are really delighted to receive this support from the SPAR in Banff the staff are so nice and polite and caring with all of the customers who come into the shop. It is a pleasure to be associated with them”.

Stephen Fraser, Area Manager for SPAR Scotland, said: “We are thrilled to be handing over this donation to our local charity - Home-Start”.
