SPAR Thornliebank, owned and operated by CJ Lang and Son Limited has recently donated a generous £1,000 to Rainbow Care Centre.

The money was raised through the sale of single use carrier bags, which since October 2014 cost customers 5p per bag.

Rainbow Care Centre provides services to vulnerable and disadvantaged people 50 years of age and over to live more active and fulfilling lives. The Centre was established in 1990 to provide physical and social recreational activities to older people living in the south west community of Glasgow. They provide an accessible day care facility 5 days per week providing a nutritous lunch, tailored activities and accessible transport. 

Rainbow Care Centre volunteer project offers a flexible Befriending service in the local community and their Liaison service offers a wide range of information/advice and signposting to relevant agencies.

Ann Welsh, Care Manager, said: “On behalf of everyone at the Rainbow Care Centre I would like to thank your organisation for the very generous donation of £1,000. Your kindness is very much appreciated and you can be assured that the donation will be used towards enhancing members  quality of life”.

David Cunningham, Area Manager for SPAR Scotland, said: “We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to support such a worthwhile local cause”.
