SPAR SUPPORTS LOCAL GIRLS FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

Date Published:

11 YEARS OLD Vanessa Riddle was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma in February 2009 and has since endure several cancer treatments and two lots of surgery.

She was given the all clear in 2010, but a routine scan in December 2011 revealed the awful news, that the cancer was back!

Relapse treatment is only available in America, but at a cost of at least £500,000, a huge fundraising effort by family and friends is underway to get Vanessa the treatment she needs as soon as possible.

Store Managers from SPAR stores in Portland Street and Logan Drive were so moved by Vanessa’s story that they decided to contact their Dundee based Head Office CJ Lang & Son to ask for help and placed donation buckets at their till points. CJ Lang made the generous donation of £1000 and shoppers to the store have raised over £800 so far.

The Vanessa Riddle appeal has raised an overwhelming £355,000 if you would like to help reach the £500,000 needed for Vanessa’s treatment in America, go to www.justgiving.com/vanessa-appeal
