SPAR’S DONATION TO TAYSIDE DEAF CHILDREN’S SOCIETY

SPAR Scotland has donated £100 to Tayside Deaf Children’s Society, allowing them to continue their good work with deaf children in the local areas.

Tayside Deaf Children’s Society is in place to help and support families with deaf children, and to promote deaf awareness across Angus, Perth & Kinross, and Dundee.

Michelle Dowdles, secretary of the Society, said “Thank you so much for thinking of us, the money will be put to good use and used only in Tayside”. She explained the money would be used to fund hearing aid starter packs for Kings Cross Hospital’s Audiology Department, as well as fun outings and gatherings for the families.

The money was raised through the sale of single-use carrier bags, which cost customers 2p per bag, and is collected and donated to a local charity nominated by the relevant stores. The initiative has been in place since 2008 and has already risen over £250,000 which has been invested directly into the surrounding communities.
