SPAR Scotland Triumphs at 2024 Scottish Grocer Awards

SPAR Scotland celebrated a remarkable evening at the Scottish Grocer Awards in Glasgow last night, with multiple wins and recognitions across various categories.

Competing against leading convenience symbol groups in Scotland, including Premier, NISA, Londis, Day-Today, Keystore, Morrisons Daily, Clydebank Co-op, and Scotmid, SPAR Scotland emerged as a standout performer.

The awards honoured the outstanding achievements of SPAR Scotland’s store teams and individuals across both their company owned estate and independent retailers, underscoring the hard work and commitment they bring to their communities.

SPAR Scotland CEO Colin McLean said: “Congratulations to all our store teams involved. It’s fantastic to see the dedication and effort of our teams being recognised at such a prestigious event.”

The evening’s winners from SPAR Scotland include:

·       Employee of the Year - Kelly McCulloch, COS Manager, SPAR Crosshouse

·       Soft Drinks Retailer of the Year - Saleem Sadiq and team at SPAR Renfrew (Independent)

·       Symbol Store of the Year (Single Site) - Daniall Nadeem and team at SPAR Motherwell Road, Bellshill (Independent)

·       Symbol Store of the Year (Multi-Site) - Barry Hanif and teams at SPAR Drumgelloch & SPAR Paisley (Trading as Trinity Retail) (Independent)

·       Industry Achievement Award - Asiyah and Jawad Javed, SPAR Stenhousemuir (Independent)

In addition, several SPAR Scotland teams and individuals received recognition on the shortlist:

• Crosshouse COS – Innovation Store of the Year

• Crosshouse COS – Sustainability Champion

• Meigle COS – Impulse Retailer of the Year

• Renfrew – Independent Retailer of the Year

• Robyn Salmond – Employee of the Year, Penny Great Glen (Independent)

• SPAR Drumgelloch (Hanif) – Best New Store
