This weekend provided Scotland not only the scorching heat but some scorching goals from the regional rounds of the SPAR and CHILDREN 1ST Tartan 5’s football tournament.
Five a side football games were played in Paisley, Dundee and Aberdeen. It was SPAR and CJ Lang and Son Limited’s teams whose goal scoring saw them top the tournaments in both Paisley and Dundee.
CJ Lang and Son Limited’s team ‘Spartack’ won the Dundee event at Gussie Park. The team consisted of members of the company’s transport department. In Paisley, two SPAR teams were quick to score their way to victory. SPAR Govan and ‘The Orphans’ triumphed at the event. While a close run final gripped spectators in Aberdeen as team ‘Obi Wan Kenobi Nil’ won the event.
The final of the tournament will be played at Lesser Hampden on 5th June where teams from each region will go head to head to play for the Tartan 5’s trophy. All proceeds from the event will go to CHILDREN 1ST.
Children 1st works to support families under stress, protect children from harm and neglect, help them to recover from abuse and promote children’s rights and interests. The tournament is just one of the fun ways that people can raise money for the charity.
